Oh Ho the Mistletoe!

My achievement here was using a card base other than white (or any neutral for that matter). I embossed the mistletoe and added some pearls. I strung the tag on the ribbon and tied a bow where the mistletoe bunch would be gathered. A strip of pattern paper adds some color. It's not visible in the picture, but I used a circle die to round the top of the tag.

Holly Days

I experimented with combining the traditional red/green pairing with a frosty blue. I also stamped the holly on a white base then fussy cut a section to stick out. This was my first attempt at this technique, and I'm very happy with how it came out.

A Rare Find

I love this guy! He is, without a doubt, my favorite new stamp!

I paper pieced his fur and colored his tongue. (The little squiggles are actually waves on the pattern paper.)
I made a shaker snow globe for his home. I used shimmer card stock for the background and regular white card stock for the lump of snow he is standing on. I hole punched a bunch of confetti from both the shimmer and regular card stock. I used 1/8" foam tape to keep all of the confetti and glitter inside. The Yeti is popped up with 1/16" foam tape. I used circle dies for the snow globe bubble and base along with the banner. It's a fun card but requires a lot of foam tape!

Rather than reinvent the wheel- here is where I learned how to make shakers and curved banners.
Damask Love has a wonderful banner tutorial
Paper, Scissors, Superheroes has an awesome shaker tutorial

THE STUFF
Stamps: Lawn Fawn Yeti, Set, Go
Ink: PTI Smokey Shadow
Paper: Lawn Fawn Peace Joy Love | Studio Calico Atlantic, PTI White Shimmer, PTI Stamper's Select White
Embellishments: Martha Stewart Crystal fine glitter
Cuts: Lifestyle Crafts circle dies, 1/4" and 1/8" hole punch

Woodland Birthday

I love CAS for masculine cards. This one is pretty straightforward. A background stamp + cricut cut + sentiment + embellishment. I kept wanting to add more or do more, but I was worried about lessening the masculinity or overdoing it, so I had to restrain myself. After all, I wanted the card to be about the person receiving it and not the person making it.

THE STUFF
Stamps: Lawn Fawn Woodgrain Backdrops | PTI Stylish Sentiments: Birthday
Ink: CTMH Cocoa | Hero Arts Wet Cement
Paper: PTI Rustic White, Kraft, Pinefeather
Embellishments: Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher Staples

Cover Plates with Artbooking

I'm very proud of my cover plate. It took a while messing with it (and a few practice cuts) but I did it! I welded a frame that was the size of a card front to one of the overlays. The hardest part was making the overlay line up just so- that way there weren't any odd tiny cuts along the edge where it meets the frame. I also had to 'hide' quite a few cuts too.

Paper, Scissors, Superheroes has a great cover plate tutorial on how to attach it to the card base

THE STUFF
Stamps: Avery Elle Thankful

Paper: PTI Rustic White, Kraft, Canyon Clay
Embellishments: Amy Tangerine wood buttons | TE Natural burlap twine

Bright Blessings

For this little pumpkin, I used a combination of clear embossing powder and glitter. I love this technique because the glitter really sticks in there and doesn't come off on everything.

THE STUFF

Happy Autumn

Some fussy cuts and layering of the images with foam tape + sparkles + sentiment. That's it! Pretty simple.

Side note: I'm totally obsessed with Wet Cement ink from Hero Arts. It might be my color for fall. I'm using it on everything (especially with Rustic White card stock).

Make It Monday: 131 Darling, You Rock

This week's challenge was striped embossing. I only have clear and white embossing powder so I had to improvise. My solution -> I used different color pigment inks with clear embossing powder. It worked out better than I thought, and I love the look.

Stamps: PTI Headline Alphabet, Think Big Favorites #12 | CTMH Trinity Alphabet, Casual Expressions, It's Your Day, Artiste Birthday
Ink: CTMH Outdoor Denim, Olive | SU Pool Party | Brilliance Galaxy Gold, Cosmic Copper, [CTMH Pigments: Ruby, Champagne, Olive, Outdoor Denim, Black]

A Very Moxie Christmas

Happy Labor Day!

I busted out my Christmas stamps and papers for the Moxie Fab Holiday Cards and Moxie Fab Holiday Tags challenges.

I kept my tag simple with white card stock, white string, white ribbon, and then a colorful image.  I used 5 different inks for my ombré tree and added bitty sparkles to finish it off.

THE STUFF:
Stamps: MFT Seasonal Sentiments
Ink: CTMH Sunny Yellow, Topiary, Ponderosa Pine, Cocoa | SU Lucky Limeade
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select White
Embellishments: CTMH Neutral baker's twine, bitty sparkles | PTI 1/4" white silk ribbon
Cuts: Lifestyle Crafts circle dies

I wanted to make an interactive card. I used the adorable little reindeer from Create-A-Critter and the curvy track so it would look like he was frolicking in the snow. I used an x-acto knife to cut the curved edge above the track so it looks like hills. I added snowflake pattern paper for the sky and a little cluster of embellishments to give it some more interest.

Surprisingly- this is a stamp free card! (It's surprising because stamps and ink are usually in every card I make- if not the focus of the card entirely!) I didn't plan it this way. It just kind of happened. I like it though and should definitely try it more often.

THE STUFF
Paper: Carta Bella Winter Fun | Studio Calico Classic Calico Volume 3 | PTI Stamper's Select White, Scarlet Jewel | MFT Kraft, Neutral
Embellishments: CTMH Burlap ribbon, Brown and Tan sparkles | Tim Holtz mini paperclips
Cuts: PTI Movers and Shakers: Spinners dies | Cricut Create-A-Critter

Stamp-a-faire!

All of my Stamp-a-faire projects rolled up into one post! It's been so crazy but so much fun! I'm definitely going to have to take off work next year to have more time (and hopefully post as I go).
Here are all of the challenges:

And here are all of my cards:
(unfortunately, not in the correct order)

This card is for the Gallon-Quart-Pint Color Balance challenge. I love this color theory, and it's definitely going to be used regularly.

THE STUFF
Stamps: PTI Stylish Sentiments: Birthday | CTMH Hooray Bouquet, Buttons, Bits, and Bobs
Ink: PTI Smokey Shadow
Paper: PTI Ocean Tides, Autumn Rose, Canyon Clay, Stamper's Select White
Embellishments: Model Magic
Cuts: Lifestyle Crafts circle dies

This card uses the Sprinkle of Salt technique. I thought it would be super easy, but I was so wrong. This card features my third attempt. It was such a challenge to get just the right amount of water. Attempts one and two were either too dry so nothing really happened or too wet so all the paint got sucked up. I'm going to have to refine my skills on this one...

THE STUFF
Stamps: PTI Stylish Sentiments: Birthday
Ink: PTI Smokey Shadow, Limeade Ice | CTMH Lagoon | SU Island Indigo
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select White | watercolor paper
Embellishments: Darice silver sequins

This scratch and sniff technique for the Scent-sational Cards challenge is by far my favorite. (Although the card is not... I think the Ahoy card comes in at number one.) I know I will be using this for MANY holiday projects, and birthday cards, and foodie gifts, and anything else really. I love it! Interactive cards are my favorite to make because they add like ten times more fun to any card (especially those kid cards).

THE STUFF
Stamps: PTI Heart-2-Heart #1 | WPlus9 Winter Wishes
Ink: CTMH Cocoa | Versamark
Paper: PTI Rustic White, Kraft
Embellishments: CTMH clear embossing powder | coffe grounds

This card was one of the more difficult to make because it required Limited Ingredients. Seems simple enough but I kept wanting to add things that weren't on the approved list.

THE STUFF
Stamps: PTI Boy Basics: Out of this World, Think Big Favorites #16
Ink: PTI Smokey Shadow | SU Pool Party | CTMH Sorbet, Creme Brulee
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select White, Soft Stone, Aqua Mist
Cuts: fussy

This challenge was also at the top of my favorites because it involved Sugar Coated Embellishments! A.K.A. GLITTER! These different techniques for adding sparkle can be applied to almost every card to bling it out. I know I'll be bookmarking these for the holidays!

THE STUFF
Stamps: PTI Sentiment Signs
Ink: PTI Smokey Shadow
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select White, True Black
Embellishments: 1/4" Scor Tape | MS Yellow Gold glitter

This was a fun one. These Custom Accents from the Oven (or shrinky dinks) are super easy to make. Plus, a heat gun can replace the oven which saves a ton of time. I colored my hearts with copics and coated them with glitter.

THE STUFF
Stamps: PTI Bigger Blooms, Bountiful Banners
Ink: PTI Smokey Shadow, Soft Stone | Copics R08 Vermilion, YR04 Chrome Orange, Y13 Lemon Yellow
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select White
Embellishments: Shrinky Dinks paper | MS crystal fine Arctic glitter
Cuts: Lifestyle Crafts circle dies

This is my favorite card but maybe not my favorite technique. Mixing Mists to Match is super cool but super messy. I love the result, and I love making custom mists. However, next time I need to plan better and prepare a spray station or something to keep the mess contained. I used washi tape to mask stripes then sprayed at an upward angle to create the ombré/fade. I used white embossing powder on the sentiment. (I tried gold first but it just didn't stand out enough.)

THE STUFF
Stamps: PTI Headline Alphabet, Bountiful Banners
Ink: CTMH Moonlight | Versamark
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select White, Kraft | watercolor paper
Embellishments: Zing! White embossing powder | MFT hemp cord | Darice gold sequins
Cuts: Lifestyle Crafts circle dies, PTI Bountiful Banners dies

These Tea/Kool-aid Staining Techniques are really neat, but I think I've decided that I'll only be adding water to my paper crafts on rare occasions. Water adds mess and warp. I still want to try this technique on twine and ribbon, but I'll set that up to do in bulk (rather than a small amount for a single card).

THE STUFF
Stamps: PTI Stylish Sentiments: Birthday
Ink: CTMH Blush
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select White | watercolor paper

This was another great technique- Rolled Dough Designs. I made little buttons from my circle dies. (I have a pretty small die collection). I added the button holes by using a regular button as a guide. I couldn't string the buttons (I kept ripping them), so instead I used a white gel pen to draw the string.

THE STUFF
Stamps: PTI Stylish Sentiments: Birthday | CTMH Buttons, Bits, and Bobs
Ink: PTI Smokey Shadow | SU Melon Mambo | CTMH Juniper, Creme Brulee
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select White
Embellishments: Model Magic
Cuts: Lifestyle Crafts circle dies

Last but certainly not least... the Sketch and Color Combos Breakfast Bake and Take. This color combo was love at first sight. It's so rich and bold... Yet, somehow... my card came out pretty subtle. I guess the large amount of white space and the addition of soft stone for the frame and ribbon really changed the feel. Next time I use this combo I'll be adding much more smokey shadow.

THE STUFF
Stamps: PTI Bigger Blooms, Mini Blooms, Birthday Style
Ink: PTI Smokey Shadow, Soft Stone | SU Lucky Limeade | CTMH Tulip, Sunset, Blush
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select White
Embellishments: Darice silver sequins
Cuts: PTI Bigger Blooms dies
